Juniors – Light Nights

These sessions are for Juniors aged 8 – 16. The sailors will mostly be sailing Optimists and Toppers, Beginners and Improver Fleets will be run.

For for all sessions

  • Sailors using a club boat £35
  • Reduced charge for sailors with their own Optimist or Topper

Parents Information

  • All children taking part in water activities need to be confident swimmers (at least 50m)
  • Under 16 must have a parent/guardian on site at all times
  • All children will need to take responsibility for their allocated boat, parents will be required to help rig and de-rig the boats (training given)
  • All parents will be required to volunteers to help with some of the following: cooking tea, brewing up, on the jetty, boat storage, cleaning and mopping

All children will need:

Suitable Sailing clothing (this doesn’t need to be expensive, there is often old kit for sale or Decathlon is a great shop!).

Sailors must bring:

  • wet suit (full not short),
  • buoyancy aid (can be borrowed from the club for first few sessions),
  • warm hat
  • spray top / cheap waterproof
  • suitable footwear: wet-boots, old trainers

In addition, the following is recommended

  • thermals (cheap ones from Decathlon under a wetsuit)
  • cap if sunny
  • sailing gloves

If you are coming to the sessions in April and early May you will also need Winter clothing (see here)

You will also need

  • Warm clothes for after (including trainers and warm coat so you can take part in dry land activities)
